    We are in for a really unique treat! This trip includes a guided, narrative tour of the Thornton area including ties to Al Capone, the Native tribes and early settlers in the area and the location of a WWII POW camp. at the Quarry we will have rare opportunity to head to the floor of the Quarry to see the operations and dig for fossils from a 400 million year old coral reef. Trip also includes a visit to a local History museum and lunch at Glenwood-Oaks.

    Welcome aboard, next stop 1848. Journey back in time
    along the I & M canal. We will begin with a guided tour of
    the Hegler Carus Mansion, built in 1876; the home features
    seven floors and hand-painted ceilings in public rooms. We
    will then enjoy an afternoon tea with Mrs. Lincoln featuring
    scones, sandwiches and savories. While dining Mrs. Lincoln
    will regale you with stories of her courtship and marriage
    to Abraham. We will then board the mule powered canal
    boat just like the Lincolns took in 1848 for a trip down the
    canal.
